I happened to see Johnstone's book 'Impro' in the charity shop I volunteer at. I'm sorry to say I'd never heard of him before. And here I am 3 days later finding out about a man who specifically calls out Godot and Ikiru, two personal favourites of mine. 'Impro' is a fantastic book. I think the universe put it there for me to find at exactly the right time. I don't really believe in that kind of thing and yet it keeps happening

Lookin' at him it's pretty oblivious t' me that me 'n' Dave dress up just like he did, Dave even started t' make them kinda hats and we both talk just like that too almost whenever we gets goin' exceptin' I gave up shavin' complicitly because somebody told me my fledgling Van Dyke made me look indignified, also way back before the Polliponnasian Wars. Lookit that sweater! I've got one just like it, and Dave's got dozens. My parents tried their bestest to protesticate me from dangerosity but somehow or other they didn't manage t' keep me from being disposed tuh Charlie on account of them bein' mentally stuck in the Old Country so they hadn't heard about the CBC yet. And lookit what happened. I'm like this all the time now because of Don Farquharing Harron!! 😄

To playwrights: Don't waste your time submitting your original play to theatre groups. The vast majority of them are inside operations or dot orgs dependent on woke projects. Produce your gem yourself. Write and produce what you find entertaining and original, your voice. Start with a reading and take it from there.
